Week 2 has gone by with good news and bad news.

The good news is that the appliances are on order!  I’ve spent a lot of time doing research on the appliances that I want to get.  Here’s a quick list of what’s on order.

• LG counter-depth refrigerator with French doors
• LG washer and dryer
• Bosch dishwasher
• LG gas 5 burner range with dual ovens

I walked into Best Buy with the model numbers and went about pretty quickly to put the order together.  As luck would have it, there was quite a sale going on, so I saved about $1,800 off of MSRP.  Sweet!  Then I finished filing my taxes, but it looks like my refund will be significantly less than what I was planning.  Hurn.

I went to the house twice this past week to check up on things. The rear addition was demolished and framing for the downstairs bathroom started.  Demolition of the upstairs bathroom was pretty much complete.  The second time I went, it was on day two of some major rain.  That is where first major problem showed itself.  Since the rear addition was taken down, it exposed the windows to the basement, which were not in good shape.  Rainwater collected in the wells in front of the window and had poor drainage.

Of course, water doing what it wants, it decided to take a peak inside of my basement.  Not cool.  The water pooled under my furnace and the bathroom framing.  The contractor will check it out on Monday to see if there is any damage and what to do about that leak.  The upside is that at least I found this out before major work was done and only minor rework has to be done, if at all.  Stupid rain.  Now get on outta here. Don’t touch that coat!
